Freedom is desired by everyone. Freedom to think without restrictions and freedom to act according to one's thinking.
However, everyone is taught to acquire faith in so many things since birth that it becomes ridiculous to even think that one can think with freedom.
One has to have 'Faith' in himself, his well-wishers, in norms of the society in which he lives, various ethical, moral, religious and other precepts, even in particular modes of thinking and so on.....
The 'Faith' is nothing but abondoning freedom; by choice or by force. The degree of such restrictions that people accept may vary and therefore, the strength of their 'Faith' may also vary.
People of varying "Faiths' in different things continuously are engaged in a variety of conflicts restricting each other's freedom to act even further.
What a tough situation?
How can I have 'Faith' in anything as well as "Freedom'?

Freedom and Democracy
Freedom for a society means having Democracy as its political system of governance.
This is the view of currently dominant American/European thinking.
Is it reasonable, logical and universally desirable?
As I pointed out there is nothing like Freedom in the existing Universe.
What is Democracy? I have no clue.
The very concept of Democracy if taken to mean what its advocates preach, requires Complete Freedom of Choice for each participant.
But in the absence of such Freedom, or in the absence of the rational possibility of having even the Concept of Freedom, the very concept of Democracy becomes meaningless.

CONCEPT OF FREEDOM
Can there be freedom for a human being?
I do not think the concept of freedom has any meaning.
If anything exists, it is bound and restricted by its existence.
If a thing exists amongst other existing things, it is further restricted by the other existing thing.
Therefore, any existing thing that is thus bound and restricted can not be said to have freedom.
The concept of freedom seems to be a tool to keep people happy in a state of lillusion or perhaps a delusion.
Any economic, political, social or any such philosophy that talks of freedom is a GREAT FRAUD.
